Reiki treatments

How long is a Reiki treatment?

About an hour, although the first visit may be slightly longer as it will include a preliminary talk about your health and what to expect in the treatment.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes, only shoes need to be removed.

What happens when I go for a Reiki treatment?

On the first visit the session will include a preliminary talk to determine your present and past health.

A treatment is usually carried out with the recipient laying on a couch, so they can feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible. The practitioner then places their hands gently, and non-obtrusively over areas of the body. Reiki is not a form of massage as the hands remain still, and there is no need to remove clothing (apart from shoes).

Where do treatments take place?

Susan has a ground floor treatment room in her house in Ely.

How long have you been qualified?

Susan Sharpe qualified as a Reiki Master/Teacher in 2001 and has been giving Reiki treatments, and running regular Reiki courses, at all levels, for twelve years.

Are there age restrictions on who can have treatment?

Reiki is safe for people of all ages. Children under 16 will require parental consent before a treatment is given.

Can I have Reiki if I am pregnant?

Reiki can be very beneficial if you are pregnant, but in line with other holistic therapies, it is not advised in the first four months of pregnancy.

What can I expect after a treatment?

You may feel sleepy or energised after a treatment.

Occasionally, you may experience reactions as the body begins its self-healing process. These could include more frequent trips to the toilet, a runny nose, a slight rash as the skin rids itself of toxins, perspiration, change to sleep patterns, and also existing conditions may flare up temporarily before they heal.

These reactions are temporary and should clear within 24 hours or so. They are positive signs your body is responding well to Reiki. It is important to increase fluids for a few days after treatments. You are welcome to contact Susan if you have any concerns about this.

How often should I have treatment?

This will depend on your reasons for wanting Reiki. You may find two or three treatments are all you need, but If you have long-term health issues, or an acute or chronic condition, a course of six treatments may be recommended, and a discount is available for this (please see the Fees page for details). After these treatments you will know whether Reiki is improving your health and well-being, and you may then decide to continue at three - four week intervals for maintenance.

What is a Reiki Course?

After clients have experienced the benefit of Reiki, they may decide to take a Reiki training course, in order to treat themselves, and also their friends, family and pets.

Reiki First Degree is the introductory level course, and is taken over 2 days. Reiki can be learnt by everyone, you don’t need any special skills to give Reiki. If, after taking the first level, you wish to take it further, Reiki 2nd Degree is the next stage. This is considered practitioner level, with which you can obtain insurance, and give treatments to other people.

Finally! If you have a question that hasn’t been covered here, that you would like answered, do let Susan know, please contact her by email or phone.
